The Denim Story

“I have often said that I wish I had invented blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity — all I hope for in my clothes.”

Yves Saint-Laurent

On that note, lets dive in.

One day when I was going through the family album, I saw a very old picture of my dad in his trusted pair of jeans cuffed at the ankle and my mom in her bell bottoms and then I immediately went into a thinking spiral.  Jeans have been here for so long. Its the only piece of clothing which is timeless, truly! Never have I not liked wearing jeans. If anything, its my go-to. Its like having a closet full of clothes, but nothing to wear. So you wear jeans. Its like daal chawal in fashion. Some people get bored of it for a while but they always come back to this.

Giorgio Armani rightly said, “Jeans represent democracy in fashion”. And I couldn’t agree more. Who doesn’t have a pair of denims? In this world and age, if there’s anything uniting us on a global level, it’s this. No kidding! No matter which country you belong to, which religion you follow, which colour you are, everyone has a pair of jeans. Needless to say its a favourite of all. I haven’t met anybody my age, who doesn’t like to wear it.

And due to the fast moving fashion, there are so many variations in the market, right now. We have all kinds of jeans now. Wide legged, skinny, bell bottoms, straight legged, boyfriend jeans, girlfriend jeans, high rise, low rise, mid rise etcetera. And that’s not all, apart from the denim trousers, there are denim shirts, jackets, crop tops, shorts and skirts. Basically anything denim and I am all for it. One can not have enough. There are so many ways you can express yourself wearing your denims. Every type gives you a different kind of character.

Like here I wanted to look a bit edgy, so I wore my skinny jeans with this very comfortable white tee shirt. Put on my favourite combat boots and an oversized denim shirt and threw in a bum bag. I would totally rock it (pun intended) as an airport look!

This is the second post in my casual with an edge series. Let me know how you like it.

Until, next post.
